2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United Kingdom. On November 1, 2022, the "UK-China Legal and Maritime Service Conference in Guangzhou" was jointly hosted by the British Consulate General in Guangzhou and the Maritime Law Research Association of Guangdong Province, and was held simultaneously online and offline.BELINK4U provided simultaneous interpretation services and Zoom online live broadcast for the seminar.
Looking back at the friendship between the two countries over the past 50 years, cooperation between China and the UK has gradually increased and deepened, promoting mutual benefit and win-win results. At the seminar, leading figures from both countries in the fields of maritime arbitration, insurance, finance, and law exchanged in-depth.
On the one hand, the UK, as a traditional maritime power, has long accumulated rules and experiences that have a significant position in the world; on the other hand, China, as a rising maritime power, has seen rapid development in the shipping industry, driving the improvement of the legal system and the professionalization of legal services. Guangzhou has always been at the forefront of innovation in the field of maritime law in China.
The seminar also invited Mr. Mo Tai, Consul General of the British Consulate General in Guangzhou, Dr. Cai Daisong, Senior External Liaison Officer, Mr. David Steward, Chairman of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), and Ms. Lin Cuizhu, Vice President of the Maritime Law Research Association of Guangdong Province, to share their views on the topic.
This seminar, as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the UK, has been a great success. In the future, it is hoped that the friendship between China and the UK will last, and more opportunities for cooperation and exchange will be sought to enhance mutual understanding between legal practitioners in both countries and embark on a new path of cooperation.
